Worship
Commission
The
Worship Commission coordinates and oversees the preparation,
functioning and evaluation of all liturgical ministries in the
Parish. Collectively the various groups contained in this commission
assist in providing quality liturgical celebrations and prayer
services throughout the year. The structure of the commission
includes the following:
Altar
Servers The server helps prepare the worship space and assists
the other ministers by carrying the sacred vessels, books and
other accouterments of the Mass. As a prayer leader, the server
listens, respond and sings with the whole assembly. The public
example of the Altar Server is a witness to others.
Eucharistic
Ministers Those who are involved in this ministry assist with
the sharing of communion at Mass. Their reverent attitude and
attention call all members to the Table of the Word and the
Table of the Eucharist. They also visit the sick and share Eucharist
with those who are homebound or hospitalized.
Lectors
Members of this ministry prepare and proclaim the Word of God
in public worship, particularly at Sunday Mass. Their work also
fosters a greater love for the Scriptures and deeper insight
into their meaning. Parish Bible Study is a natural outgrowth
of this ministry.
Ushers
These members provide welcome and hospitality to both parishioners
and visitors at our regular parish worship. They assist people
in finding a place in the assembly ands coordinate the collection
of the offering. They watch for the needs of people who are
elderly or physically challenged and help to create an environment
of welcome ands service. They respond to the unexpected occurrences
and direct special assistance as needed.
Sacristans
Maintain the liturgical space and environment for worship. They
help insure cleanliness and readiness for worship in the church
building. They are responsible for the cleaning and coordinating
of vestments, vessels, and altar supplies. In collaboration
with the pastor and the worship coordinator, they anticipate
the needs of Sunday and Daily Mass and the liturgical seasons
of the year
Ministers
of Music People who work in this capacity include cantors, choir,
liturgical dancers and musicians. They enrich the services by
delivering prayer through song and movement.
The
primary objective of this ministry is to give praise to God
and to reverently touch the hearts and souls of the congregation
by melodically sharing the Word of God through music and dance.
