Attention adult volunteers, catechists, Catholic school teachers, parents serving as chaperones, ushers, Madonna Parish and Christ the Teacher School staff and teachers:

Any parent (s) wishing to volunteer/chaperone class trips must take the Protecting God’s Children session, mandated by the Archdiocese of Newark.  The following requirements must be met:

  • A completed Volunteer Application (CLICK HERE, print, fill out and sign)
  • A completed Protecting God’s Children training (click Step 1 below to register)
  • If you’re a first-time registrant, upon registering for Protecting God’s Children training, follow prompts to complete your mandated background check.
  • If you’ve already had the training and you’re due for another background check,    (every 5 years) Madonna Church employees and volunteers send background check requests to Max Almenas, Local Safe Coordinator (LSEC):
  • Christ the Teacher employees and volunteers send background check requests to: Joan Capasso, Local Safe Coordinator (LSEC):
  • Archdiocese Code of Conduct/Ethics (CLICK HERE, read all pages, only print last page sign, and hand in to your LSEC. 
The Protecting God’s Children (PGC) program is a 3-hour awareness session for adults in the faith community who interact with minors.
PGC training programs are comprehensive and multi-dimensional – incorporating proven best practice standards for the prevention of child sexual abuse and other wrongdoing by employees, volunteers, and others who interact with children within the environment.
Training in child abuse awareness is mandatory for employees or volunteers who work with or in the presence of children.
NEW! Keeping the Promise Alive – New Re-certification Option!
Keeping the Promise Alive, a new re-certification only-session is now available.  
Only 90 minutes, this session is an alternative to another Protecting God’s Children session for those re-certifying.  You must use your original Virtus ID to enroll, so contact to register.

On the Virtus site, Click PDF image to download and save the Policies/Conduct form. Read entire policy, print and sign final page, and submit to your Local Safe Coordinator.

Click box to add check and confirm you have downloaded Policies.


Fill in name and date. Click “Confirm”. 


Select no if you’re registering for the first time.


Select Madonna (Fort Lee) or another location and date convenient to your schedule.


Check your email for training confirmation.

If this is your first Protecting God’s Children training, click “Begin Verified Volunteers Background Check” link. and follow the prompts.
If you have completed PGC training in the past and you’re due for a background check (every 5 years), send an email to and request an invitation for a background check.

Print, fill out, and send Code Of Ethics (page 23) 
If you’re a volunteer or employee of Madonna Parish or Christ The Teacher, please READ entire policy,
PRINT THE FINAL PAGE (page 23), SIGN IT and SEND IT to Max Almenas, Local Safe Coordinator:
